Jens Axboe on Kernel Development / Slashdot discussion : I am really interested in that sort of stuff - low level system programming and 3D graphics programming being the two fields of 'computer science' that I consider the most challenging - and, if you share the same interest, you are well advised to check out this ./ post.
I was reading up on Gladiator, the movie on Wikipedia - which led me to Russell Crowe's post on the same site. There is a funny statement in the [Temperament] section.
In June 2005, Crowe was arrested and charged with second degree assault by New York City police, in connection with an incident at the Mercer Hotel, SoHo, New York. Crowe threw a telephone at a hotel employee who refused to help him place a call when the system did not work from his room, and was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (the telephone).. How on earth can a telephone be in anyway considered a weapon? If a telephone is indeed a weapon how come everyone has one, or more ? Silly contradictions being side-effects of stupid laws :)
'CSS techniques I use all the time' : I never liked messing around with UIs ( frameworks, technologies, actual designs, you name it) but I know quite a few who do ( like my brother ). Its nice to know the basics though.
Amazon S3: Outages, slowdowns, and problems : Very interesting post, concerning Amazon, its S3 service, scalability, distributed storage etc.

Yay for kernel hacking!
Very interesting interview indeed.
Oh and might I add osdev to your list of most challenging CS fields?
An excellent CSS link, that one, thanks for sharing.
